Summary (Scope of Job):


Provide build and testing support to R&D and pre-production activities. This job contributes to the organization by creating prototypes, developing test methods and execution to evaluate, debug and improve design concepts, test methods, assembly and test equipment, fixtures and jigs in compliance with domestic and international regulatory requirements.


Major Responsibilities:


  1. Provide technical support for building and testing of all R&D / Feasibility devices required for new product concepts, design changes and business development / marketing requirements.
  2. Support all aspects of in-house prototyping capabilities, including 3D Printing, CNC machining, UV Inkjet Printing, finishing/painting, etc.
  3. Support inventory and organization of all R&D/Feasibility devices.
  4. Identify and maintain an inventory of tools, materials and supplies required for prototyping and testing to support R&D.  Interface with and select suitable vendors for the supply of test equipment and machinery components as well as verify all equipment is documented and calibrated appropriately.
  5. Administer safety procedures and good lab practices in R&D lab and shop environments.
  6. Test method selection or development to execute studies related to the product.
  7. Must be able to work effectively on electrical, mechanical and/or software related issues associated with test and assembly equipment of the product.
  8. Analyze test data to challenge the effectiveness of assembly equipment and processes.



Educational Preference:  Associate’s Degree or education/ experience equivalent.


Experience Preference:  

  1. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a regulated industry, preferably working on fluid / drug delivery devices.
  2. Working with embedded processor debugging, wireless communications (BT, NFC, etc.) and PCB design (Orcad preferred)


Knowledge and Skills:            

  1. Must be willing to be hands on in creating prototypes, building fixtures and setting up test methods
  2. Software skills desired:
    1. LabView/CVI
    2. Configuration and operation of National Instruments DAQ Hardware
    3. Programming (C preferred)
    4. SolidWorks
    5. MS Office
  3. Knowledgeable in prototyping and 3D printing.
  4. Instrument and Hardware Skills
    1. Oscilloscopes
    2. Power Supplies
    3. Multimeters
    4. PCB Rework (SMT)
    5. Soldering
    6. Construction of wiring harness w/crimp connectors
  5. Possess a good balance of technical expertise and analytical thinking.
