QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree, vocational school, or related experience
  • 10+ years of experience in machining practices such as Journeyman Machinist
  • Moderate to advance CAD/CAM experience
  • Basic to moderate assembly experience

 

Preferred:

  • Written/report writing experience
  • Engineering/design background
  • Multi Axes programming and machining
  • MasterCam class certification
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping and associated equipment

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of GD&T drawing principles
  • Demonstrate ability to work to tight tolerances (+/- .0005”)
  • Proven track record of successful developments including creative innovative design activities
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, brainstorm, analyze, and implement the best solution
  • Ability to read drawings, and technical specifications
  • General knowledge of materials (metals and plastics)
  • Computer/data entry skills
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Work in a team environment
  • Able to work independently with only general supervision

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work safely with machinery and equipment
  • Ability to lift, pull and push raw material required for machining operations

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and build (fabricate) prototypes, fixtures, gages, tooling and equipment
  • Manipulate basic to moderate CAD files with multiple parts and assemblies
  • Solve problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Create prototypes, fixtures, tooling, equipment and models from written instruction, sketches, drawings, CAD files or verbal direction from engineers and management.
  • Fabricate working prototypes of products and recommend performance enhancements or design changes in collaboration with engineers or management
  • Maintain basic knowledge of processing/manufacturing technologies related to the medical device industry
  • Apply comprehensive and diverse model making and machining principles and practices to broad assignments under the direction of management  
  • Design and build simple prototypes, fixtures, gages, and equipment
  • Operate CNC equipment
  • Solve problems of moderate scope and complexity
