PURPOSE OF POSITION:  The primary function of the Sr. Director of Business Development is to provide leadership and supervision of projects and personnel for supporting the research, identification, solicitation, negotiation, and execution of new partner relationships in support of Enable’s corporate strategy. This role will establish key relationships with prospective pharmaceutical and biotech companies to maximize the value of Enable’s drug delivery technology and create long-term, win-win partnerships.





  • A strong science/medical/pharmaceutical background
  • 8+ years prior experience in business development and licensing roles in life sciences including a record of substantial completed agreements specifically in the pharmaceutical space
  • High degree of travel (domestic and international)


  • MBA
  • Training or licensing experience in oncology, hematology, immunology and/or other rare disease states
  • Work experience in a business development capacity in large pharma or small biotech

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as printer, telephone, etc.


  • Leading the licensing initiatives for Enable’s drug delivery technology to pharma and biotech companies
  • Representation of Enable in corporate and product opportunity presentations
  • Developing appropriate messaging relating to the out-licensed assets
  • Preparation and negotiation of LOI’s, term sheets and contractual agreements with external parties
  • Leading necessary due-diligence activities
  • Performing financial analysis of opportunities
  • The ability to align the organization throughout the deal process – leading to internal consensus
  • Presenting, aligning, and securing senior management and board of directors’ approval for agreements
  • Ensuring successful transition of the project to internal champions (i.e., Alliance Management, Program Management).
  • Support of the strategic initiatives of the company, & prioritization of opportunities to fit the strategy
  • Management of selected projects and personnel
  • Identification, prioritization, and evaluation of potential assets and partnerships (domestic and international) that are in line with strategic value for Enable.  This includes initial and advanced analysis of opportunities, strategic fit evaluations, understanding clinical development requirements, projecting revenues and financing requirements and other key factors
