QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • Vocational training in Design or related discipline
  • A minimum of 6 years of mechanical design experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in CAD 3D modeling & 2D drawing

 

Preferred:

  • 4 years’ experience with fixture/equipment Design
  • Associates Degree in related discipline.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling & 2D drawing
  • Basic knowledge in Adobe InDesign & Adobe Illustrator

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge in Design Tools (i.e., CAD Modeling, Engineering Drawing and Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated ability to understand ergonomics and safety and effectively apply to design recommendations and improvements
  • Strong working knowledge of machining and fabrication processes
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods
  • Basic knowledge in Tolerance Stack analysis
  • Demonstrates technical collaboration and willingness to share expertise with others
  • Exemplifies flexibility and resourcefulness; responds deftly to a variety of challenges and situations
  • Ability to understand complexity, anticipate problems, and proactively diagnose
  • Apply solid cognitive ability to collecting, processing, and disseminating information

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as printer, telephone, etc.
  • Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Ability to operate lab instrumentation and equipment
  • Ability to lift and move 20 lbs

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop 2D component and assembly drawings from solid models applying fundamentals of ASME Y14.5
  • Manage drawing Design Change Orders through the review approval process
  • Modify existing 3D models at the direction of engineers
  • Develop new 3D models with input from the cross functional teams
  • Develop labeling and packaging documentation with input from PD, Regulatory, and Human Factors
  • Support the PDM system
  • Support the development and analysis of tolerance stack-ups
  • May provide technical guidance and coaching of other designers
